Chicago-area man dies in truck accident

A 42-year-old man was killed recently in a truck accident on the Borman Expressway near the Illinois-Indiana border. The man was killed when his GMC truck collided with a semi-tractor. A spokesperson for the Lake County coroner’s office said that the man was pronounced dead at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago. It is unknown whether this accident occurred as a result of the negligence of either driver involved in the auto accident. Read more about this truck crash.

Truck Accident on Chicago’s Stevenson Expressway

The outbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway were moving slowly after a rollover automobile accident shut the time. The truck crash occurred in the evening on the Chicago expressway. Three people were in a red pickup truck that hit a concrete barrier and flipped. All three people were responsive, but they were pinned inside the truck and firefighters had to extricate them. Chicago bus accident results in multiple injuries

Multiple people were being treated at hospitals for personal injuries sustained this afternoon after a CTA bus crashed in Chicago. The victims were passengers on a No. 126 bus when it collided with a car. One passenger was in serious to critical condition, six were in fair condition, and two were in good condition.

John Perconti of Levin & Perconti files wrongful death lawsuit after deadly truck accident

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in Kane County, Illinois by Levin & Perconti’s John J. Perconti. The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a woman who was killed last fall in a serious trucking accident. The 32-year-old woman, along with her husband and 3-year-old son, were struck by a truck, causing their car to crash into the Illinois Department of Transportation dump truck in front of them. The woman’s husband and son were both seriously injured in the car crash. Allegedly, half of the brakes on the semitrailer that crashed into the family were not properly functioning and the truck driver had marijuana in his system. The personal injury lawsuit has been filed, but although the death was ruled a homicide, criminal charges have yet to be made.

Truck crashes at monster truck shows leave 2 dead

Recently, two deaths have been caused by truck accidents at monster truck shows. A 41-year-old man was killed after being crushed when one of the trucks crashed into him. Apparently, the man was struck after stepping in front of a truck. Eight days earlier, a 6-year-old boy died when flying debris at a separate monster truck show hit him. Newest train derailment in a string of Chicago-area public transportation accidents

In the last week, Chicago trains have been involved in car crashes and other automobile accidents, pedestrian collisions, and derailments. This morning, a freight train with 72 cars headed from Canada to Chicago experienced a derailment in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. No injuries were caused by the derailment, but two cars were holding sulfur, a toxic, hazardous material. According to a spokesperson, the substance is currently not posing a danger. First lawsuit filed in Continental takeoff accident

The first of what may be several personal injury lawsuits has been filed against Continental regarding last month’s takeoff crash at an airport. The flight was bound for Texas and veered off the runway during its takeoff run and was destroyed. While there were no wrongful deaths from the aviation accident and following fire, 38 out of the 110 passengers and crewmembers onboard were hospitalized.

Wrongful death personal injury lawsuits filed after tragic truck accident

At least five personal injury lawsuits have been filed as the six month anniversary of a tragic truck accident and ten car pile-up near the Illinois-Missouri border approaches. The truck driver who caused the automobile accidents was reportedly distracted by a cell phone when he ran into a line of 10 vehicles injuring 15 motorists and causing the wrongful death of three other victims on July 15. The family of Charles Cason, 55, of Caseyville, Illinois has filed a civil personal injury lawsuit in response to Cason’s death immediately after the truck accident. At least four other victims have filed lawsuits against the truck driver and the truck company. For the full story, click here.

Chicago Area Train Crash Creates Death Toll of One

A Chicago train line faced delays after a deadly train accident occurred near Gary, Indiana. The accident resulted in a car accident fatality where the driver of a car was alleged to have run into the train. There is no word yet on if a personal injury lawsuit will be filed by train passengers or if defective railroad gates are to blame. The car train accident has left the automobile driver dead but there were no injured train passengers. To read more about this story click here.

Student Hit by Semitrailer Truck

A Naperville, Illinois student suffered serious personal injuries after he was struck by a semitrailer truck. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the truck accident which occurred in Naperville, Illinois. The high school student was crossing the road when he was struck by the semitrailer truck. He was taken to the hospital with personal injuries, and authorities state that the personal injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. To read the full story, click here.

Lawsuit alleges engineer was using cell phone during rail crash

More than a dozen persons who received personal injuries in a deadly commuter rail crash accuse the engineer's employer of ignoring complaints that he regularly used his cell phone while operating trains. A personal injury lawsuit was recently filed on behalf of 23 plaintiffs, including passengers who were injured or killed on the train.
