An accident in southern Illinois on April 9 left one man dead. The accident occurred when the deceased driver hydroplaned and lost control of his vehicle. His car ran into the median and then swerved back into traffic in front of a tractor trailer truck. The truck slammed into the car, killing the driver. The truck driver was not injured in the accident. According to a report in the Belleville News Democrat, traffic on the highway was backed up for over two miles and it took three hours for normal traffic to resume.
