Family of Accident Victim Sues for Safety Upgrades

The family of a victim of a log trucking accident that occurred in 2008 wants to make sure that this type of accident does not happen to other people and have filed a lawsuit demanding stronger rules and more signage to prevent further trucking accidents. The victim’s accident was one of three in the same intersection in 2008 on Highway 30. According to KATU 2, the current rule requires that trucks have a rear pilot car for loads that are a certain length, but as the suit alleges, many shorter loads are also dangerous and this rule needs to be amended to prevent further fatal trucking accidents in this area.
