The school bus – containing 33 sixth-graders, two teachers, five chaperones, as well as, the school bus driver – collided into the back of a tractor-trailer that had slowed in a construction zone.
As a result of the accident, nine students were taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained. As of press time, two of the school children remain hospitalized – both suffering from broken legs. Additionally, the 66-year-old driver of the school bus was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The bus driver has been cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
