Man Dragged For Three Miles After Semi-Truck Accident

It is no surprise to our readers that truck accidents can cause life-changing serious personal injuries, or even death, particularly those involving pedestrians. Many of these accidents can leave victims disabled for life and put them out of work. However, the extent of the severity of some truck accidents can still be extremely shocking.

One in particular, reported by CBS, was extremely dreadful to read. In the city of Northlake, Illinois, an 89-year-old man was struck and killed by a semi-truck. According to the report, his body was dragged over three miles before it was discovered in the undercarriage of the truck by the truck driver near Grand Avenue and Garnet Drive.

In preliminary studies, investigators reported that they believe the man was struck by a truck while trying to cross a busy intersection at Mannheim Road and Armitage Avenue after getting off at his bus stop. He died of multiple injuries after being struck by the semi. The medical examiner’s office has ruled his death an accident. As of now, the truck driver has not been charged, but the truck accident remains under investigation.

Our lawyers understand the difficulties that victims and families go through after pedestrian accidents. We have handled many cases involving pedestrians who have been struck by trucks and motor vehicles, and have recovered fair and just settlements for victims and their families. In one such case we obtained a $10 million settlement for a young boy who was run over by a truck while playing by a fire hydrant and suffered the loss of his leg and half of his pelvis as a result.

If you or someone in your family has suffered injuries as the result of a pedestrian accident, it is important to seek legal representation to be compensated for your injuries, suffering, and financial losses. A personal injury lawsuit allows victims to hold negligent wrongdoers for the harms caused to you that would not have happened but for their negligence. While the court understands that some injuries are irreparable, court monetary awards aim both to put the plaintiff back into the position they were before the accident and to set a legal example so that such accidents will be prevented in the future. Our attorneys are passionate and work hard to represent innocent victims and to use the law as a vehicle of preventing future harms to others. If you or a loved one has suffered from a pedestrian accident, you can contact our attorneys for a free consultation, and we may be able to help you obtain the compensation that you deserve.
